I picked this shelf up because I wanted to display my larger Blu-ray box sets like Planet of the Apes, Seinfeld Complete Series, Friends Complete Series, I Am Legend Box Set and so on. I have a one-year-old son so I wanted something strong as well which may not be as easy as others to tip over.
The self was quick to put together, but make sure you use the correct screws as the instructions direct. I thought I knew everything and put the whole thing together incorrectly.
It isn’t as big as I thought. Make sure you get your measurements correct before purchasing if you have specific requirements. My biggest question was how much space is between each shelf. The Space between each shelf is just over 8 inches. The shelves themselves are not all the same size. They are smaller at the top and get larger as you go down. It isn’t too terribly noticeable though.
It also comes with a little kit so you can screw an extra support strap to the wall. The strap is just a piece of fabric which tears easily. But it holds if you fold it over itself.
I ended up putting by movie box sets at the top, and books and magazines (horizontally) at the bottom for stabilization. The shelf is fairly stable, but books at the bottom really help. The higher shelves are almost too small for anything besides trinkets. But it served its purpose well for my needs.
Over-all I am happy with the purchase, however I do believe it is a bit to expensive. I think it is worth $99, but no more. As I stated before, make sure you get the dimensions of the entire self to ensure it will fit where and how you would like it to.
